ISO/TC 279 Votes to Develop a Global Standard for Innovation Ecosystem Management
March 17, 2025 – The global innovation community takes a significant step forward when an overwhelming majority of member countries of ISO Technical Committee 279 (ISO/TC 279), responsible for the international standardization of innovation management, voted in favor of developing a guidance standard for Innovation Ecosystem Management. This landmark decision reflects the growing recognition that innovation ecosystems play a crucial role in fostering collaboration, driving technological advancement, and enhancing economic growth.
The newly approved work item, ISO 56012 Innovation Ecosystem Management - Guidance, will provide a structured framework for organizations to establish, manage, and improve innovation ecosystems. These ecosystems—comprising businesses, startups, academia, government, and other stakeholders—enable the co-creation and scaling of innovations across industries and regions.
